Adding a Credit to a subscription will decrease the balance due on the subscription. A credit does not actually touch the gateway or return any funds to the customer’s credit card.
For example, if the customer has a zero balance, a credit will result in a negative balance.
Any outstanding credit (i.e. a negative balance) will be used up first before an attempt is made to charge the card for normal periodic assessment charges. Creating a One-time Charge will not attempt to use outstanding credit.
To add a credit to an account, adjust the balance on the account to decrease the balance on the account. Please view our documentation on adjustments for further information.
