International date formats

Please please please could you offer the option of international date formats i.e. 25/12/2011 as it's so confusing for anyone outside of the US (that would be us and all our customers) and had led to mistakes being made!

Even varying the format by currency/site would be a start.This is mainly on the hosted pages where this is important, ie the UI.
The easiest and fastest fix would be perhaps putting dates in a '25 Dec 2011' or even 'Dec 25, 2011' format. This would disambiguate matters.
At the moment users would have no idea what day and month a date like 2/3/2012 would refer to. Is this Feb 3rd or Mar 2nd .
Please, please please - clients don't want to see mm/dd/yy format - it confuses them incredibly ....
